A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck offshore from South Africa on Saturday, resulting in a tremor being felt by many in Cape Town.

The US Geological Survey said the tremor occurred at a depth of 10km and far south of South Africa's coast.

There were no reports of casualties or damage.

On Sunday, some people are said to have felt more tremors, but these were not independently confirmed.

On Twitter, the hashtags #tremor, #earthquake and #CapeTown immediately trended. Of course, in true South African style, Mzansi poked fun at some of the reactions.
