They will appear alongside five others in the town's magistrate's court on Tuesday.

The charge of escaping from custody has been added to the other charges they face, which range from stock theft to attempted murder.

The other five were arrested last week on Thursday and Friday, within hours of the jail break on Wednesday.

Monday's arrests and the men's court appearances on Tuesday were confirmed by police spokesperson Captain Khaya Tonjeni.

Eastern Cape police commissioner Lt-Gen Liziwe Ntshinga said: “I am elated that the task team heeded my call to set aside their rest and sleep to pursue  the escapees. We are also thankful for the help, calls of support and valuable information from law-abiding citizens. When we work together we achieve so much more.”
