Body of missing East London girl, 8, found near Hemingways Mall

Dorchester Heights informal settlement residents tragically ended their frantic search for eight-year-old Lihlumo Mzini on Tuesday afternoon after the discovery of the girl's lifeless body.

Mzini went missing late on Thursday and, since Friday morning, residents and police had been joined together in a frantic search of the area between Dorchester Heights and  Hemingways Mall.

It is suspected that she was taken by an unknown male in the early hours of Friday morning.

The girl's mother was arrested on Sunday for negligence, as she was not with the child.

Police detectives and forensic investigators are currently at the scene.
