Premier Oscar Mabuyane has relieved health MEC Sindiswa Gomba of her duties in light of findings by the Special Investigating Unit.
Mabuyane said this decision was effective from Thursday.
Cogta MEC Xolile Nqatha will act as health MEC.
During questions, Mabuyane said Gomba will remain an MPL.
Beleaguered Gomba has been under fire after again being charged over Buffalo City Metro’s Mandela funeral scandal who hold political or government office, to step aside until cleared by court. The MEC was also facing calls for her resignation over the province's R10m medical ambulance scooter fiasco.
