BREAKING | Mabuyane appoints Nqatha as caretaker public works MEC after Madikizela's exit

Premier Oscar Mabuyane has appointed Cogta MEC Xolile Nqatha to be the caretaker MEC for the public works and infrastructure department after the resignation of the incumbent, Babalo Madikizela, was confirmed by the provincial cabinet on Wednesday.

Mabuyane's spokesperson Khuselwa Rantjie on Wednesday confirmed that Madikizela's last day in office would be on Friday and that Nqatha will act in the position until a permanent replacement has been appointed.

Madikizela had publicly proclaimed his desire to leave government after his defeat at the recent ANC provincial conference where he had challenged Mabuyane for the provincial ANC chair position.
