Muirfield excites SA champion
ERNIE Els arrived at the Open Championship in 2012 more in hope than expectation, and walked away with the title.
This year he arrives with high expectations as the 2012 champion, as well as the defending Muirfield champion.
In 2002, the last time the Open was played on the magnificent links on Scotland’s East Lothian coast, Els won a dramatic four-way playoff to clinch his first Claret Jug. At 32 he was in the prime of his career and many more majors beckoned.
