Organisers of the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge have confirmed that a man died after completing the race through Johannesburg on Sunday. 

The man is understood to have died in a medical tent after receiving attention after the race.

His family have requested that details of how he died and his identity not be revealed.

Almost 33 000 cyclists took part in the race that began and ended in Fourways.

South African teenager Stefan de Bod won the men’s race in 2:15:23. Daryl Impey, riding for Orica-GreenEdge, took third.

Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio won the women's race in 2:34:01.
