Orlando Pirates have begun their off-season shopping in earnest after the club completed the signing of Abbubaker Mobara and Riyaad Norodien from Ajax Cape Town on Tuesday.

In a statement issued by the club‚ Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza also confirmed the signing of Ghanaian forward Bernard Morrison from Congolese side AS Vita Club.

Mobara is currently with the Bafana Bafana squad in Namibia and Khoza said negotiations with him would be wrapped up when the national team returns to South Africa at the end of the Cosafa Cup.

“We have been given the go-ahead to make contact with both players (Mobara and Norodien) and finalise personal terms‚” Khoza said.

‘‘Obviously‚ with someone like Mobara currently in Namibia with the South African national team‚ we will only be able to finalise with him and his representatives when he returns from international duty. However‚ we will be finalising soon with Norodien.”

With regards to Morrison‚ Khoza said an agreement has been reached and signed after a revised offer was sent to AS Vita.

‘‘We are happy with this acquisition and trust that Morrison will have a successful stay at the club.”

Khoza said the arrival of new faces at Pirates would necessitate the exit of several players who will be deemed surplus to requirements.

“The club will be making an announcement next week regarding the players who will be released‚” he said.

AS Vita coach Florent Ibenge let the cat out of the bag earlier this week when he told journalists covering the Cosafa Cup in Namibia that Morrison would sign for the Bucs.
