You still have time to enter Spar Daily Dispatch Fun Run
Promoting a healthy lifestyle among employees has been Johnson & Johnson’s goal for 2019 and to prove it, over 170 staff members and their families are taking part in this year’s Spar Daily Dispatch Fun Run.
The pharmaceutical company will be the biggest corporate group participating. J&J site operations and communications manager Michelle du Preez said: “I think the reason we have so many entries in the fun run this year is because we launched the HealthForce 2020 initiative to encourage healthy behaviour among our staff. We launched it in 2018, but have really been pushing the initiative this year.”
She said the fun run was an extension of this and allowed staff to not only exercise, but also build relationships with each other outside of work.
The Spar Daily Dispatch Fun Run is on Sunday and starts at 9am at the Orient pools. There are two distances – a 4km walk and a timed 8km run.
Everyone, from avid runners to those in wheelchairs, is invited. Daily Dispatch marketing manager Jennilee Peremore-Oliver said: “What makes the event unique is our large group of disability entries. Our race proves that disability does not mean inability. It’s a fun, colourful and light-hearted event that brings everyone together in a positive spirit.”
While online and in-store entries are closed, you can still enter by going to register at Nutting Hall on Friday from 10am to 6pm or on Saturday from 10am to 1pm.
All entrants stand a chance to win a share of R12,000 worth of Spar vouchers, and if they show their race numbers at Wakaberry on Sunday, they will get a R10 discount on every R30 they spend.
Entry fees are:
- 8km adults – R70;
- 8km U16 – R50;
- 4km adults – R60;
- 4km U16 – R30; and
- Corporate 8km and 4km (min 10 people) – R55 each.
