Download free ebook to help kids understand coronavirus

The world’s leading humanitarian organisations have sought to explain the global coronavirus outbreak to children in a new storybook.

The World Health Organisation, the United Nations Children’s Fund, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and Save the Children are just some of the 50 organisations to have collaborated on the project.

Ario is the central character of “My Hero is You, How kids can fight COVID-19!”. The character and others explain how children can protect themselves, their families and friends from the coronavirus and how to manage difficult emotions when confronted with a new and rapidly changing reality, according to the WHO. Script writer and illustrator Helen Patrick relied on the insights of more than 1,700 children, parents, caregivers and teachers to get an idea of how they were coping with the pandemic.

“In order to reach as many children as possible, the book will be widely translated, with six language versions released and more than 30 others in the pipeline. It is being released as both an online product and audio book,” WHO said.
