SA idol Khumalo brings house down in G’town

Last year’s Idols SA winner Noma Khumalo left her fans begging for more at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown at the weekend.

The songstress, who made her debut at the annual festival proved why South Africans fell in love with her angelic voice during Idols SA, as she delivered a spine chilling show at a packed Thomas Pringle Hall on Saturday.

The performance was part of her national tour, A night with Noma, promoting her debut album titled Joy.

Khumalo had her fans eating from the palm of her hand as she rendered an energetic performance.

Her fans, who came out in numbers were mesmerised by Khumalo’s angelic voice and she did not disappoint.

Speaking to the Daily Dispatch after her hour-long performance, Khumalo said she was happy she had been warmly welcomed.

“The audience was absolutely warming. I loved it. People here welcomed me with open arms.

“I have never been here before and I am very humbled by the support the audience showed me. I was not expecting a full house, but people came in numbers and filled the venue,” she said.

The songbird said the performance was part of her national tour, “and Grahamstown was my first stop. With the love that people show me here I will go to other places with confidence”.

Fans left the venue satisfied.

Vuyo Nkamana said: “The show was beautiful. I enjoyed every minute of it. Her rendition of Beyonce’s XO brought the spark to audience and she killed it with Jennifer Hudson’s I am telling you I am not going.

“But the moment that I enjoyed most was when she asked me to join her on stage and dance.”

Qaqamba Cwayi, who said she had supported and voted for Khumalo during her Idols SA journey, said she was happy to watch her favourite singer perform live.

“I have always loved her music and I was happy that I watched her perform live.

“The show was great and she gave it her all,” she said.
