Nineties Kwaito group TKZee, which gave the nation hits such as Fiasco, Dlala Mapantsula, Phalafala, Izinja Zam and Mambotjie, among many, is coming to East London this Saturday to perform at the Mzantsi Cultural Festival.

The event, in its second year, is presented by Posega Lifestyle and will see well-known hip-hop star Casper Nyovest headlining.

Other top acts include Metro FM’s Lerato Kganyago, East London’s very own talent Msaki and the host will be Yasirah.

TKZee’s Zwai Bala said it has been a while since the group visited East London and they were looking forward to taking to the stage.

“It’s been forever since TKZee was in the Eastern Cape. It brings back memories going back as we’ve had many shows down there where we were shown some serious love over the years,” he said, adding that coming back showed that they still had fans and maybe a new generation of TKZee fans who still want to see the members of the group together again doing what they do best.

He said the audience can expect to hear some of the group’s top hits.

“They will get a reminder of why TKZee is the best kwaito group of all time,” he said.

The Mzansi Cultural Festival, which is also known as a “white party with a pop of culture”, not only celebrates the best in the music industry but also celebrates Heritage Month. It celebrates various cultural groups and patrons are encouraged to show off their cultural outfits.

“Heritage and culture means to us being, embracing and preserving who we truly are as Africans while simultaneously giving other people the freedom and permission to express who they are. It’s all about unity in diversity,” said Bala.

Bala appealed to locals to come out in numbers to celebrate Heritage Month and get to see the various acts doing what they do best.

“Many have heard about TKZee on stage and this is a perfect opportunity to see us live if they haven’t done so yet,” he said.

Supporting acts include Reezyville,Yoba UNLTD, Welo SA, Mjazz, DJ Minty, DJ Tulz, House Natives, DeepLondon, DJ Zwesta, a Housefanatici, GQ and Chris.

There will be live performance by the likes of Slogan, B.laqii, MDK, Sky and Olothando Ndamase.

General tickets for the event cost R150, VIP tickets are going for R350 and are available at Computicket.
