Madiba day 60: no change

FORMER president Nelson Mandela’s granddaughter Ndileka Mandela visited him at the Mediclinic Heart Hospital in Pretoria yesterday as he spent his 60th day in hospital.

She arrived just before noon and stayed just over an hour before leaving shortly after 1pm.

In the morning, a travelling Indonesian gospel choir arrived by bus to sing a few hymns for Madiba, before praying for his wellbeing and recovery.

Some people posed for pictures at a hospital wall adorned with goodwill wishes, while others read the hundreds of messages of support written to Madiba on cards, placards, banners and posters at the hospital’s entrance.

He was admitted with a lung infection on June 8.
