Andile Sidinile the promoter of former world champion Simphiwe Vetyeka has allayed fears that his charge has severed ties with the US boxing manager Al Haymon.

This after Sidinile once again took upon himself to organise Vetyeka’s fight when his Sijuta Promotions presents his fight against Colombian Rudolfo Puente for the Mdantsane boxer’s defence of his WBA International featherweight crown.

The fight will be held at the Selborne Park Tennis Court on November 28 featuring an IBO lightweight title clash between Xolisani Ndongeni and Jasper Seroka.

In a presser to introduce the venue to the media, Sidinile said Vetyeka was still under the promotion of US promoter Leon Margules of Warriors Boxing Promotion and Haymon as his adviser.

But since Vetyeka penned the pact he is yet to feature in a fight organised by the Americans.

Instead Sidinile took upon himself to guide the former WBA champion’s career and is even planning to attend the WBA Convention in Panama from December 13 where he plans to request Vetyeka to be approved for the regular title challenge.

“Yes I will be there to argue Vetyeka’s case that he be approved for the vacant WBA regular title,” he said.

Asked why he was the only one looking after Vetyeka when he has the powerful and influential Haymon behind him, Sidinile said: “Remember we signed a co-promotion with Margules and Haymon so I still have to do my part for Vetyeka.”

Vetyeka has been relatively starved off fights having last been in action in December last year when he beat Mexican Arturo Reyes.

Shifting to Ndongeni, who will feature in a Sijuta show for the second time in a row, Sidinile emphasised that he was not looking to sign the Mount Frere-born Johannesburg boxer.

“We have a strategic partnership with Ndongeni’s promoter so him appearing in a Sijuta show does not mean he has signed with us,” he said.

However, he admitted to have approached the municipality in Ndongeni’s rural town to come on board.

“We spoke with the mayor of the area and he promised to avail two buses to transport people from Ndongeni’s region to the fight. Remember Ndongeni will become the first boxer from the municipality to win a world title if he beats Seroka so the enormity of the occasion is not lost to local government of his roots.”

Other bouts on the bill will see Duncan Village’s Siyabonga Siyo tussling with Filipino Ronnie Talalon in a mini-flyweight, Mzuvukile Magwaca and East London’s most popular female fighter Leighandre Jegels, Olympian Siphiwe Lusizi also appearing on the bill.

All the boxers will embark on a parade on Saturday with the first stop being Duncan Village where

T-shirts and other goodies will be given away.

They will move to Mdantsane Mall at NU6 for public workouts.

Sidinile said the tickets were already on sale at Computickets with 60% already sold.
