Anti-mining activist killed execution style

Police are investigating a case of murder after one of the leaders of the Wild Coast anti-mining campaign was killed execution style last night.

The man, Sikhosiphi Rhadebe, who is the chairman of the Amadiba Crisis Committee, was at home when two men driving a white vehicle with blue lamps came to his home claiming to be police officers.

Police spokesman Captain Mlungisi Matidane said the two men told Rhadebe that they were there to arrest him.

He did not say exactly what they claimed was the reason behind the arrest.

"As he was preparing to leave with the two men, they shot him eight times in the head outside his house. He died on the spot. His wife and child have been hospitalised due to shock," said Matidane.

No arrests have been made yet.
