Close to 10 villages under the Mnquma local municipality, under investigation for corruption and misspending millions, have no electricity or running water in their wards.

A Saturday Dispatch team this week visited a number of these villages where electricity remains a dream.

Many blame the municipal leadership for not prioritising their areas.

Some of the villages with no electricity are Nombanjana, Nqancula, Gqunqe, Ngqaqini, Ngqusi, Ncerana, Hom, Nqhutu, and Hilihili.

Mongezi Mpengesi of Hom village said the dream of having electricity would only be realised when infighting at Mnquma subsided.
