Phosa: white capital debate meaningless
Speaking at the Nondlwana Methodist Church in Mdantsane yesterday, Phosa said the ANC should stop wasting time on the debate “because money and capital is colourless”.
Instead, the party should preoccupy itself with fighting corruption within its ranks and the government.
The former Mpumalanga premier said the ANC government had a frog mentality on corruption because there were no consequences for perpetrators. Even worse, he claimed, President Jacob Zuma was laughing about the matter, and by doing so was strengthening the perception that the party was not serious about rooting out corruption and state capture.
Phosa, who had been called upon by some ANC branches to stand for the party’s top job during its elective conference in December, said he was definitely going to stand.
Among his priorities, he said, would be to restore respect for the country’s Constitution and take a tough stance against those involved in corruption. — email@example.com
