R1.5bn schools project stalls
This is after South African Black Technical and Allied Careers Organisation (Sabtaco) members this week disrupted a tender briefing at the Abbotsford Christian Centre in East London.
They accused the Department of Basic Education of intentionally excluding black-owned firms when it came to school construction tenders.
The construction of the schools, valued at R50-million to R150-million each, forms part of the department’s Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Delivery Initiative (Asidi).
