Bail hearing for suspected hitmen postponed

The bail hearing for the suspected taxi violence hitmen was posponed again at the Mthatha Magistrate’s Court today.

At the previous adjournment the magistrate Justice Mqhwishi had ordered the public prosecutor to seek a certificate that determines under which Schedule in the Criminal Procedure Act do the offences fall under.

Among the charges faced by the accused are four counts of murder and five counts of attempted murders.

The accused were arrested at Sibangweni village near Mthatha on March 26 by the Eastern Cape taxi violence task team.

Mqhwishi told the court that the certificate would be available tomorrow  and postponed the matter.
