Kids find body near village dam
Old Payne villagers near Mthatha are still in shock after the body of a man was found dumped near the local dam.
The gruesome discovery of the body with stab wounds was made by young children while they were fetching water from the dam with their donkeys.
They alerted their elders just after 6am on Monday.
“The community is not feeling safe and everyone is tense,” headman Thobekile Dubo said.
“We have been told that Sanral wants to get rid of the dam to build a road, but we do not know when that will happen.”
Resident Vuyo Fihla said this was the second body to be found at the dam this year.
The villagers want the government to fence off the dam.
