Dentist in court on World Bosses Day for threatening to kill boss
A well-known East London dentist Dr Dumisani Linda, 62, appeared in court on World Bosses Day for allegedly threatening to shoot and kill his 32-year-old boss Dr Kwanda Nogemane.
East London police spokesperson Warrant Officer Hazel Mqala said the case was opened at the Duncan Village police against Linda on October 9.
“It is alleged he went to his place of work at the Duncan Village Clinic on October 9 drunk and when confronted for his actions by the clinic’s manager, he threatened to shoot and kill him.”
Both Linda and Nogemane declined to talk about the alleged incident. Eastern Cape department of health spokesperson Lwandile Sicwetsha said: "The matter is handled internally through labour relations. Both [Nogemane and Linda] have been asked to submit statements of what happened."
Linda appeared before the East London magistrate Rochel Sam on Tuesday for intimidation. The case was postponed to November 16 for further investigation.
Leaving the courtroom, Linda, slammed the Daily Dispatch reporter for addressing him as a Mr. “My title is not Mr, I am a Doctor."
The reporter apologised and hoped Linda would give a response but he said: “I have nothing to say to you. Firstly you took my picture without my permission.
“I know your boss [editor-in-chief Sibusiso] Ngalwa [referring to the Dispatch editor Sibusiso Ngalwa].”
Linda was flanked by his lawyer Aphiwe Makhuluma who said: “ I have been instructed by my client not to speak at this stage. The case has been postponed pending further investigation. This is a high-profile case.”
Nogemane said he was not authorised to talk to the media and that the incident was handled by the police and the department of health, would only say: “It’s an internal matter handled by my employer, the department of health. Speak to them.”..
