Fundiswa Zwane may light up the screens on Imbewu but away from set‚ the actress is determined to make a difference in her community and give young women the opportunities in life that so many lack.
The former Generations star has started several initiatives to help empower young women in her home province of KZN.
"I am working on project at the moment to collect and distribute matric dresses for young women for next year. It is a need in my area‚ where there is so much need. Sometimes a family can't afford to buy you a matric farewell dress‚ only to put food in your mouth. We live in a social media age where others don't want to be seen in the same dress twice‚ so I am appealing to those people to offer what they can."
She said that she would alter any dresses to fit the girls in need.
Two years ago she started a highly publicised outreach to help fight teenage pregnancies.
Fundiswa aims to help girls around the country but said she was starting small‚ and in her home province.
"My focus is on KZN because that is where I have the easiest access. Until I get sponsorships to travel I will have to do what I can with what I have."
The businesswoman wants to launch retail products in the new year but said she still wants to lend a hand in the fight for women's rights.
"Young women are at the tail end of initiatives. Often we are just a statistic and that is something I want to fight to change for as long as I can. It is a battle I will always fight...
