Two men get 60 years each for raping three women
Two Eastern Cape men in their 20s were sentenced to 60 years in prison each for rape, housebreaking and robbery by the Butterworth Magistrate Court.
Police spokesman Captain Jackson Manatha said: “The Butterworth Magistrate Court sentenced 24-year-old Azukisile Sidondi and 26-year-old Thulani Makuhlwa to each undergo 60 years imprisonment for rape, house breaking and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
“They were sentenced on Thursday, December 6 2018. Both men raped and robbed three young women - aged 19, 19 and 20.
“It is alleged that the accused went to the homestead of the victims on October 12 2016 at about 3am at Thaleni Village, Dutywa. The victims were asleep in their rented room when they were woken up by the men who demanded cellphones, money and they both raped the women. “A case of rape was opened at Dutywa Police Station. The case was later handed over to Butterworth Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS).”
Manatha said that Sidondi and Makuhlwa were then traced and arrested...
