Former boxing champ Gabula Vabaza dies

Former South African and international boxing champion Gabula “Tiger” Vabaza has died.
The left-handed former undefeated South African flyweight and World Boxing Union junior bantamweight holder from Duncan Village, in East London, is believed to have succumbed to a long illness in the early hours of Tuesday.
Gabula was 40 years of age at the time of his death.
His death has been confirmed by Boxing SA-Eastern Cape manager Phakamile Jacobs, who said he received the news on Tuesday afternoon.
“A family member called me and confirmed that Gabula had indeed died. He was ill for a long time and was in and out of hospital.”
