Relief for parents whose children are not yet placed

Parents unable to find a place at school for their child on Wednesday are urged to contact the nearest district office of the provincial education department.
These offices have been activated to find these pupils schools according to a plan put in place by the head of the provincial education department, Themba Kojana.
Spokesman Malibongwe Mtima said Kojana had established systems to handle an expected last-minute rush of late admissions and ensure a smooth start to the year.
Schools in East London, Port Elizabeth, Komani, Mthatha and King William’s Town were notorious for late admissions, said Mtima.
The district offices had been prepared by Kojana to make sure that “all unplaced learners are placed in schools with spaces so that they can start the academic year in class like all other children”.
“We are aware that some learners have not been placed due to various issues as such parents moving from school to school looking for space.
“I urge all our parents and community members to rather go to their local district offices or circuit offices for quick help with admissions,” said Kojana.
“We have activated all districts and circuit admission committees to help address this issue across the province.
“We urge all parents to use this route as it has been created to harness the problem.”..
