Chris Hani ANC embraces power walks
To promote a healthy lifestyle the ANC in the Chris Hani region has adopted a weekly 5km power walk.
This is an initiative of the region’s ANC Youth League.
The inaugural walk began at the Thobi Kula indoor sport centre winding its way through Mlungisi township, before finishing back at the sport centre Sunday.
“This is a great example of how people should be living their lives. As the ANC we have taken on this idea, and starting from now we will have power walks or fun runs every Sunday to promote healthy living among our members,” ANC regional chair Wongama Gela said.
He called on regional treasurer Madoda Papiyana to organise ANC T-shirts for regular power walkers.
“We will also use the power walk to distribute pamphlets and talk with our communities about the ANC,” he said.
ANC regional secretary Lusanda Sizani encouraged people to participate in the walks for the benefit of their health.
“As we have taken this power walk initiative, we are going to move it to all our six sub-regions so that the message is spread throughout the region. “We will start it in Komani next Sunday and move to other subregions,” he said.
Sizani said they wanted all ANC members to live a healthy lifestyle so that they would vote in numbers.
