Chaos at #WSU Mthatha campus started over girlfriend

It has since emerged that the chaos that erupted at Walter Sisulu University’s Mthatha Campus was over a girl.
Sunday, university’s spokesperson Yoneka Tukwayo and police could not verify what really caused the clash between students and security guards on Saturday night.
DispatchLIVE has reliably learnt that the problem started when a male student who was on his way to visit his girlfriend was denied access to Atlanta residence where his girlfriend stayed.
A student, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told DispatchLIVE that the security guards requested the male student to produce a student card.
“He told them that he didn’t have it and would wait for his girlfriend at the entrance,” said the student.
According to the information we have is that the security guard then told the student to leave, he refused, that is when the argument started,” he said.
The student said the argument got heated and the security guard called for a back-up.
“When the girlfriend of the male student finally arrived, the security guards were already assaulting him. His girlfriend phoned his friends and the fight broke out,” he said.
WSU spokesperson Yonela Tukwayo confirmed on Sunday that four students sustained minor injuries after a group of 10 students were involved in a scuffle with security personnel...
