Amalinda woman slaying suspect transferred to EC

The man arrested in Cape Town in connection with the death of businesswoman Busisiwe Ngwadla, 37, is in police custody in East London.
The man, whom the police have declined to name, is due in the East London magistrate’s court on Monday.
He made his first appearance in Cape Town after he was arrested on Sunday.
Provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana said the suspect, who is in his 50s, had been transferred to East London on Tuesday.
“A warrant of arrest had been issued for the suspect. After he was arrested on Sunday, and within 48 hours, the suspect was taken to court in the Western Cape which subsequently remanded the case to Monday to allow for his transportation and further investigation, before his appearance on April 1 in the East London magistrate’s court.”
When pressed to identify the suspect on Wednesday , Kinana said: “Even though the suspect appeared in the Western Cape, he was not asked to plead. The purpose for which the suspect appeared was to allow for his transportation back to the Eastern Cape. For this reason, it would therefore [be] a violation of his rights to name him before the actual trial.”
Last week, the police named Ayanda “Mpiriri” Matika as a person of interest in Ngwadla’s killing, but would not say whether he was a suspect or not.
