The department of labour is campaigning in Mdantsane on Friday and Saturday to help job seekers, the unemployed and those with work-related issues.
The department’s chief director of provincial operations, Nomfundo Douw-Jack, said officials would help register work seekers and assist with information about and registration of claims for the unemployment insurance fund (UIF) and compensation fund, as well as providing information on the national minimum wage.
The activities form part of the department’s communication campaigns which take place quarterly across the Eastern Cape, focusing on employers, employees and youth.
Douw-Jack said there was a notable information gap about the department’s core functions and the campaigns were aimed at bridging this gap, and promoting employment and a safe working environment.
The officials will be at the Mdantsane Labour Centre in Mazaule Street, NU1 between 9am and 11am on Friday, and at the NU7 Community Hall between 8am and 3pm on Saturday.
