Fort Hare student accused of girlfriend's murder drops bail bid

The 22-year-old Fort Hare student accused of killing Mbasa Hlalukana has abandoned his bail application.

Anele Tsewu appeared before a packed Mdantsane magistrate's court on Thursday morning.

After he abandoning his bail, the case was postponed to March 25 by magistrate Nolundi Mkwali.

Hlalukana, 20, an information technology student at Unisa, was found dead at a house in NU8 in Mdantsane in the early hours of Tuesday.

Her family told DispatchLIVE that they last saw her alive on Saturday, when she left home to celebrate her 20th birthday with friends.
