Six new Covid-19 coronavirus cases confirmed, South Africa's total now 13

The total number of Covid-19 Coronavirus cases in South Africa has jumped to 13 after six new cases were confirmed.

In a statement, health minister Zweli Mkhize said four of those infected are in Gauteng, one was from KZN and one from the Western Cape.

The new cases are as follows:

A 33-year-old female who had travelled to Italy and returned on the 1 March.

Gauteng: A 34-year-old male and a 33-year-old female had travelled to Germany returned to South Africa on the 9 March.

A 57-year-old male who had travelled to Austria and Italy and returned to SA on 9 March was also diagnosed. 

KZN: A 40-year-old male who travelled to Portugal and returned on 7 March.

Western Cape: A 36-year-old male who had travelled to multiple countries including Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Turkey and returned on the 9 March

Those who are symptomatic have started receiving treatment.

Some of these patients are already in hospital while some, specifically those who are asymptomatic are in self quarantine.
