There are now 85 confirmed cases of Covid-19 coronavirus in South Africa, after 23 new infections were announced by health minister Zwelini Mkhize in a statement late on Tuesday night.
The statement also revealed that eight of the cases were a result of local transmission where the contagion had spread to people without any recent international travel.
The minister also announced that the South African's repatriated from Wuhan, China had, so far, all tested negative for the novel coronavirus.

There are now 85 confirmed cases of Covid-19 coronavirus in South Africa, after 23 new infections were announced by health minister Zwelini Mkhize in a statement late on Tuesday night.
