UPDATED: Eastern Cape confirmed Covid-19 cases unpacked

Following an earlier release unpacking the confirmed Eastern Cape Covid-19 infections on Friday afternoon, the office of premier Oscar Mabuyane has since updated the list and corrected anomalies.

DispatchLIVE on Friday afternoon confirmed that the province now has 17 cases of Covid-19, with details of where each of the cases originated.

The results are split into various provincial health districts

The premier said the confirmed case breakdown was as follows:

  • Amathole District: 1
  • Buffalo City: 4
  • Chris Hani District 1
  • Nelson Mandela Bay District: 8
  • Sarah Baartman District: 3

South Africa currently has 1,505 people who have tested positive for the virus with seven deaths recorded.

Worldwide, confirmed cases passed the 1-million mark on Thursday night as the United States edged toward 250-thousand cases with Italy and Spain each having exceeded 100-thousand confirmed cases.
