Four people have been arrested in connection with the mob killing of seven young men in Cacadu (Formerly Lady Frere) this week.

Police spokesperson  Brigadier Thembinkosi Kinana on Friday said that the suspects were arrested on Thursday night and that one of the suspects is believed to be the ward councillor.

“They are all charged with seven counts of murder,” said Kinana. He said that one of the men will appear in the local court on Friday and others will appear on Monday.

Meanwhile, Kinana said that the death toll of the victim had now increased to seven.

Kinana said that the mob-killing of the victims aged between  21 and 27 happened at Zingqolweni village of KuNdonga and neighbouring Maqhashu at about 5.45pm on  Wednesday.
