The countdown has begun for the Daily Dispatch and Johnson & Johnson Local Hero Awards ceremony.
Community leaders, supporters and businesses can once more come together to celebrate our Local Heroes at the eighth annual gala event to honour community leaders, shelters, food drives, youth employment and many other outreach initiatives in our district.
This year, the gala dinner will be hosted by local legend Zanele Potelwa, 28, born in Dutywa but grew up in Buffalo City.
Of the 500 plus nominees, 12 winners each receive a professionally shot film and R20,000 to be announced at the bespoke evening of food, drinks and celebration at the ICC on October 27.
Daily Dispatch marketing manager Kim Daly explained that previously mentioned MC Gerry Eldston was not able to make the event but was confident that Potelwa would be an excellent host.
Daly said: “Sadly due to scheduling our previous MC had to cancel but we are excited to have the amazing Zanele Potelwa as the new host for the night.
“I have no doubt she will bring her own flare and energy to the evening.”
Potelwa said she was excited to be able to bring life to such a positive initiative.
“I am so grateful that the Dispatch chose me!
