NGO claims local firms were cold-shouldered

A feud between SMMEs and subcontractors in Mdantsane has brought a multimillion-rand fibre optic infrastructure project to a halt.
The project has employed over 300 people from Mdantsane since it commenced at the end of February and it was scheduled to end in October.
Kwanele People’s Movement (KPM), an NGO which represents SMMEs, has taken on construction company Bara Technology Network (BTN), accusing it of overlooking SMMEs when it comes to appointing local subcontractors.
