Whittlesea folk say company reneging on R1m agreement

Residents of two Whittlesea villages are up in arms over a company’s backtracking on an alleged R1-million agreement to assist them on a mining project.
A community spokesman says though they did receive R1-million, they were supposed to have received more funds for community development projects, such as fencing.
The residents, who are from Ngojini and Dyamala villages, are living near a quarry where a company – Msombomvu Pty Ltd – awarded a Sanral tender, has been mining for four years.
Now they are calling on Msombomvu Pty Ltd to cease its operations, because it had reneged on the deal with the community to collect stones in the areas.
However, the company has dismissed as untrue the claims by the villagers, saying it had, in fact, paid the R1-million to them, but some of them were demanding more money – which had not been agreed upon...
