Our leaders displaying same arrogance as those who built Titanic
Thinking about the manner in which the will of the people is so disrespected presently insofar as appointing mayoral candidates as well as councillors – including in the Tshwane saga – decisions come from the top. That really convinces me there is some form of arrogance similar to that exercised by the builders of the Titanic.
Our late leader Nelson Mandela gave us an example of a good leader, whom he described as one who engages in a debate frankly and thoroughly, knowing that at the end he and the other side must be closer.
Madiba even warned that one cannot have that mind-set if one is arrogant, superficial and uninformed.
Our leaders at the top must lead by example, consult where necessary with their branch leaders, and not do so at later stages when it is already too late. With arrogance, we are definitely setting the country on fire, and that is never a solution. — Xola Mkuyana, Bhisho
