WATCH | ANC national assembly member jumps ship, joins ATM
Member of the national assembly and senior ANC member Dr Zukile Luyenge has resigned to join the African Transformation Movement (ATM) party.
His resignation was made public at a press conference at the Osner Hotel on Friday afternoon.
He said the vision of the newly formed ATM convinced him that it was the party to take South Africa forward.
“The ANC has shown signs of decline, where interests of the elite are protected and the party no longer speaks to the needs of the people. In essence, the year 2018 was the most difficult for the ANC.
"The public perception of the ANC is in decline. People are now more informed and exposed to information that allows them the political freedom they wished for, the political freedom allows them to associate themselves with a party that best represents their interests."
"I have decided to join the African Transformation Movement after having carefully watched them grow from stride to stride. I am sure this is the movement to take South Africa to greater heights.
"I am sure this is the movement to liberate South Africa from the current status quo. I am excited of the future and what it holds. I am excited to serve the ATM and South Africa wholeheartedly."..
