EFF leader Julius Malema has reaffirmed fellow MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi's position in the party, saying he is a member of the EFF and has renewed his membership.

This comes after speculation that Ndlozi was on his way out of the party after the defection of high-profile members, including former deputy president Floyd Shivambu.

Ndlozi has been in the spotlight lately, with many questioning his future in the EFF.

Addressing party members outside the Constitutional Court in Johannesburg on Tuesday, Malema urged them to defend the party and not believe everything they hear about members unless it comes from the EFF leadership.

“I hear people are talking about Ndlozi. Dr Ndlozi is a member of the EFF, he's a leader of the EFF and no organisation can claim him except for the EFF,” Malema said.

“You must not listen to gossip from drunkards. Ask us about the EFF leaders and we will tell you Ndlozi has renewed his membership. He is in the membership system of the EFF”

Malema expressed confidence in the party's unity, citing the hundreds of supporters who attended the march.

“They think they can divide this organisation. They will never divide this organisation. We are one thing, marching to the National Prosecuting Authority as a collective of leadership that is united more than ever.

“To defend our own movement, let's go down and work very hard and tell our people the EFF is growing. You may not be elected in government, but you exist in every street and every house. There's no area in South Africa where they go to sleep without speaking about the EFF because you are a force.”

Malema has previously dismissed claims Ndlozi was banned from attending the party's national people's assembly in December, labelling them as “shebeen gossip” and “toilet discussions”.

“I don’t know what you want me to answer on Ndlozi because I never said anything on Ndlozi. So do not bring your shebeen gossip to glorify some toilet discussion, I’m not part of that, [the] EFF has never said anything. If we’ve got something to tell you, we’ll communicate it. We don’t know what you are talking about.”
