Gold for Tatjana Smith in Paris pool thriller, Pieter Coetze gets fifth place

Tatjana Smith took the gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics women's 100m breaststroke in the Paris La Defense Arena pool on Tuesday night.

Pieter Coetze had to settle for fifth place in his 100m backstroke final that was raced about five minutes earlier having been a medal chance. 

Smith's gold was Team South Africa's thiord medal of the Paris Games.
