Bulldogs to snap poor run

Exciting rugby is set to top a Youth Day celebration as the Border Bulldogs host the Boland Cavaliers in their Currie Cup qualification clash at the BCM Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

The Bulldogs will be looking to bounce back after they lost their last outing this past weekend against the South Western District Eagles, going down 39-22.

“It was a disappointing game for us,” said Bulldogs coach Elliot Fana.

“We were not good enough in the contact situations and looked a little afraid, which we have to correct against Boland.

“However, even from losses you can find positives, and it was good to see us score four tries and we want to keep scoring freely.”

Border have only made two changes to the starting lineup and three changes to the bench, with only one tactical and the others injury enforced.

Makazole Mapimpi slots into the midfield at the expense of Lundi Ralarala in the only change to the backs, while in the forwards Billy Dutton comes in at eighthman.

On the bench Johannes Janse van Rensburg returns to the squad, while Siyamthanda Ngande and Sonwabiso Mqalo also slot in.

Athi Khethani has also been bracketed with Onke Dubase as Khetani is carrying a slight knock and will be monitored at this morning’s captain’s run.

“Makazole is back in the side after a couple of weeks on the bench and he is the only tactical change I have made, with Lundi dropping out of the squad,” said Fana.

“Billy Dutton has come in for Nofuma who has a concussion and has been ruled out, while on the bench Siya Ngande has come in for Yanga Xakalashe who has a knock.”

With the celebration of Youth Day also in focus tomorrow other activities will be on at the stadium.

Festivities are set to get under way by 1pm, including local schools and local artists, with opportunities provided to youth to showcase their talents in sport, arts and culture.

The match will kick-off at 3pm and will be televised live on SuperSport 1.

Entrance costs R30 for adults and R15 for children and varsity students with a valid student card for 2016, while entry will be free for all those in school uniform.

“It is going to be a massive match and we encourage everyone to come out and support our team,” said Fana.
