The Buffalo Volunteer Rifles Military Museum downtown in East London is a preserve of military history from wars and battles that occurred within the Buffalo City area.
Collections include objects, equipment, stories and photographs dating back from pre-colonial, colonial, apartheid and post apartheid eras.
The museum, which is housed in two large halls, aims to reflect the true history of South African military conflicts by ensuring the equitable distribution of its resources, correction of historical and existing imbalances through education, training and cultural tourism.
Members of the public can view the collections by contacting the curator Major (Ret) Tony Step on 0827494545. Pictures ALAN EASON
