Hollywood actor and martial artist Michael Jai White is to present e.tv’s upcoming new reality show‚ Last Fight Standing (LSF).

The show makes its television debut on July 25 at 10.30pm.

White has appeared in numerous films and television series.

He was the first African-American to portray a major comic book superhero in a motion picture, when he played Al Simmons in the 1997 film Spawn.

Some of the productions he has appeared in include Why Did I Get Married?, Why Did I Get Married Too? and Tyler Perry’s comedy-drama television series, For Better or Worse.

White will be joined by local model K Naomi, who will co-host the show.

The 12-part reality show follows fighters from various martial art disciplines around the country in their quest to be crowned the Last Fighter Standing South African Champion 2016 and win a share of R1-million.

LFS CEO Quinton van der Burgh said their aim was to bring the Las Vegas experience to South Africa.

“The only way to expose the sport of martial arts and its fighters to a global audience is to use international talent and the platforms that accompany them.

“We are therefore very excited to have in Michael a global influencer with a strong martial arts background who is backing the LFS concept.”

The show, which is sanctioned by the Martial Arts South Africa Pro Commission, will host qualifying tournaments in cities across South Africa in which top professional fighters will compete in different divisions.

Male fighters from three weight categories: lightweight, welterweight and heavyweight; and one female division: bantamweight, will compete in 12 provincial elimination tournaments, each comprising four bouts and eight fighters.

The winners will compete in the LFS Finals at the TicketPro Dome in Johannesburg in October.
