Award-winning comedian Carvin H Goldstone will perform in Mthatha tonight in a show that will also feature Daisy Spencer, Kams Govender and other local comedians.

Goldstone is a multitalented performer and accomplished broadcast journalist.

He is also a two-time comedy show winner and has won three Vodacom Journalist of the Year awards, including 2014 SA Sports Journalist of the Year. He was the Madras Masala Comedy winner in 2006 and the Graca Comedy Showdown winner in 2011.

Event organisers Gerard Knock and Wain Hawkes, of H&K Entertainment, also recently brought comedian Donovan Goliath to the city.

They are on a drive to improve the quality of entertainment in Mthatha. “We saw a gap in the market for good entertainment,” said Knock.

“We wanted to bring people something that everyone could enjoy. There are events that are hosted but they do not cater for every age group. What we do is for everyone.”

He said H&K Entertainment’s previous show with Goliath and TD Jokes had left people begging for more.

“Donovan is from Mthatha but is big in Johannesburg and it was his first show back home,” Knock said.

“People loved it, it was a huge success and there’s a big demand for comedy again.”

He said they would also host a musical show tomorrow, featuring the band Genesix.

“These guys performed when The Rockets came and people have been asking for them. We are not only about hosting big names but there is a lot of amazing talent that needs to be given a platform and that is what we aim to do,” said Knock, adding these would be the last two events for the year hosted by H&K Entertainment.

“We are already working towards our calendar for the next year,” he said.
