DJ Anda to release third single today

Tru'fm's popular presenter, DJ Anda, has started the new year with a bang with the release of his latest single, titled Finally.

DJ Anda worked with legendary rapper Trusenz, vocalist Thandi Ralana and Azzy on the track, which comes out today.

While spinning the decks at music shows is one of DJ Anda’s favourite things, radio is his first love.

The former Selborne College pupil started his radio journey while studying sports marketing at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.

He was part of the campus radio station, where he ran an afternoon show for three years.

“I had always loved radio. I used to listen to Glen Lewis, Putco Mafani, Romeo Khumalo, Sammy T and think to myself, ‘I could do that,’” he said, adding that was when he considered getting into radio as a career.

But it wasn’t until 2001, when he heard the outspoken Phat Joe on air, that he really became inspired to get into radio. “I liked the way he presented. He was always witty, he always pushed the limits on what was allowed and not allowed on air. I heard myself in him, to be honest.”

Being a radio presenter also saw DJ Anda taking on DJing lessons from a university friend, and since then he has never looked back. “I was the unofficial campus DJ,” he said.

Upon completion of his studies, he moved back to East London in 2006 and joined the local radio station, Cki-FM, now known as TruFM.

In 2008, he joined SABC Sport as a presenter-reporter. In 2010 he was offered a slot by TruFM as a Morning Drive host alongside Nathi Ndamase.

Currently he hosts strictly music- oriented shows every Friday and Saturday from 6pm to 9pm on the station.

After becoming a well-known presenter, DJ Anda decided to make his own music.

He released his debut single, titled Far Away, in 2016.

“In 2017 I released another single called Gotta Have Your Love,” he said.

“This song I am dropping today is my third single.”

Initially the DJ had hoped to release the track in December last year, but had to delay it.

“We were not happy with a couple of things on the song but now we are confident it’s perfect,” he said, adding that he was planning on releasing a number of singles this year.

“At the moment I cannot talk about an album but people should expect to hear more great music from me this year. There are about four singles that I will be releasing and I will be working with Blomzit Avenue and Mobi Dixon.”
