Gospel comes alive with heavenly concert

LIKE wine that gets better with each passing year, so is the music of the King William’s Town gospel trio, Zama and the Voice Ministries.

This was evident during their 10th anniversary celebration that was held at the Guild Theatre on Wednesday night.

Those who know and love the music came in droves to witness the group do what they do best, delivering a splendid performance.

Founder and leader of the group Zama Ntshona said the purpose of the show was to celebrate with their fans their music journey.

Ntshona started the group with his wife, Hope, and Noluthando Camngca in 2003. A few months later they recorded their debut album titled Uyeza. The group has since grown, sharing the stage with well known SA gospel singers like Rebecca Malope.

In 2008 they released a follow up album, The voice of the truth. Their latest album, The pleasure of praise was performed live during their show on Wednesday. Ntshona said the album was about inspiring and motivating people. “ We also want to contribute in making our societies better. The album has 18 tracks and we tried to cater for everyone,” he said.

Ntshona attributed their success to their supporting fans “who have been with us since we started this journey”.

Ntshona said the group has grown vocally and in understanding the music industry as well. “When we started we were just singing. We did not know half of the things we know, but we have learnt a lot,” he said.

Ntshona said the DVD would be released towards the end of the year, “to give a chance our new album to sell,” he said. —
