Nyanga villagers where the seven suspected Ngcobo police killers were cornered and killed said they were happy the police task team swooped on them.

The alleged police killers had been hiding out at the controversial Mancoba Seven Angels Ministries when the task team tasked with hunting the Ngcobo police killers and a former soldier pounced on them.

Police removed women and children from the church which is a crime scene.

Members of the church are not allowed to go to school or work as they are confined to the church.

Social workers were called in to provide counselling following the shootout.

The alleged police killers' body have been loaded into state forensic pathology cars.

Villagers who watched on said they were happy with the developments, saying the members of the church had caused trouble in the area.

They sang and chanted happy songs as the bodies were loaded into the state forensic pathology cars.

Others called for the church buildings to be demolished.

They say the have been long calling for the government to take action.

"We are very very happy to see police acted swiftly and killed the criminals," said Nontobeko Jija.

Xolani Mfaxa said: "This is not a church but a cult. We are very thankful to the work done by police. Police are my heroes. Yesterday we were crying and our hearts were bleeding after these criminals killed our brothers. Now we are happy God has answered."

The Daily Dispatch has previously reported on how residents complained of the church, likening it to a cult.

Police Minister Fikile Mbalula is expected to address the media today at 10am.
