Ncediswa Mkenkcele‚ the 40-year-old frail care nurse accused of assaulting an elderly woman at an East London old age home earlier this year‚ will be back in court next month.
Mkenkcele appeared briefly in the East London Magistrate’s Court where the matter was postponed to July 7.
She stands accused of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm after she was caught on camera allegedly assaulting 84-year-old Hope Shepherd.
Shepherd was a resident at Lily Kirchmann complex. Mkenkcele resigned from her job shortly before disciplinary action was instituted against her. The story has made national headlines and was recently aired by Carte Blanche.
