Makana Municipality is confident the water crisis will be resolved in time for the National Arts Festival.

Much of the city was left without water when one of its main pump stations flooded damaging vital pumps.

But Makana spokeswoman Yoliswa Ramakolo this morning said things were back on track with at least one pump working albeit at a minimal rate.

"We will get water on low pressure for the time being until both pumps are fully aligned."

The pump motors and other parts were sent to East London for drying out and repairs.

A second pump will be ready for collection at lunchtime today.

"Makana Municipality and Amatola Water teams believe that by Wednesday evening things will get back to normal.

We apologise for this inconvenience, the municipality is doing all it can to restore water to the community."
